We didn't know what to expect of an Indian restaurant in Surfside but we were pleasantly surprised. The place is decorated sort of chic not antique, the service is attentive and polite, the food quantities were large! The missing star is for pricing inconsistencies - entree pricing started around $14-16 but some appetizers were $12-14. And once we were done eating, it took forever for the check because they were so busy.

Food was just ok, had better Indian before Overpriced $20 for chicken tika masale andrice is not included, extra $$$! Service was poor , it took 10 min to get a drinks! Owner/waiter never returned and asked about food! long wait time for food in a slow restaurant with no papadan or anything served before (cheap owners)! ........I would not return.

Hopefully this will make sense.... First of all, I think it's kind of overpriced for the amount of food you receive. Other than that.... 1)The food is actually quite good, depending on what you get. 2)I recommend eating there as opposed to takeout. 3)Don't leave without having the Kulfi! (Really really good). 4)Atmosphere is great, they play Bollywood music videos on a projection screen, and it's really nice seating. 5)Only up to medium spice is true Indian spice. Anything higher isn't. What I'm hoping will make sense.... Depending on the night you go, any one of the dishes will taste either better or worse than you remember. (Not always consistently good, is what I mean.). I suppose that can be true of any restaurant, but it's especially true for this one.

Service is very good! Food is equally bad. Especially for vegetarians! Over pricy with not many options on a Sunday afternoon. Would have settled for a local place at Ft Lauderdale.

Food: 4 Service: 0 I really, really expected more from this place. I have read great reviews and been told how wonderful this place was and while it did have some redeeming qualities, the service was so poor there that I can't ever imagine returning. We were greeted immediately and asked where we wanted to sit, we chose an outdoor seat and were told if we wanted the buffet to enjoy. That's what we wanted so we did. Before that, we were asked about what kind of water we wanted. Tap is my go to naturally, but we were never offered or asked if we wanted anything else which I found odd. We go to the buffet, get out food and sit down. No water. Nothing bothers me more than having an empty glass while I eat. I couldn't even chomp on ice for liquid. What if I start choking??? What will I wash down this curry with? Finally we got our water and were told compliments naan came with the buffet so we took it. Eventually we received said naan. The water came back sporadically and would check on a table and leave, like one at a time. There was no real sense of urgency. What really bothered me is the manager(s) were sitting at the table next to us watching this. Seeing empty glasses and customers waiting and they were chit chatting with friends. Not cool in my books. We waited at least ten minutes to get the check, have him pick it up and get out change. This entire event was witnessed by the managers and they didn't say, "hey, someone is waiting to pay." What also bothered me is that gratuity was included. Two people, not a party of six or eight. Forcing me to pay a set gratuity for lousy service isn't cool either. What sucks is the food is really great. The location is wonderful and the inside it cute. I would love to go back but I never want to have to deal with that again. Maybe I just had a bad server? I don't know but I don't think I want to go back and find out either.

The food here is good. Spicy and exotic and full of bold flavors. Exactly what you want from an Indian place. The lamb and saffron rice (I don't recall the name of the dish) was really tasty. My only criticism of this place is that it is expensive. $50 for the rice, naan, and an appetizer. That's pretty steep. Also, the delivery service is painfully slow. It took about an hour and a half to get my food from when I ordered. I could have literally walked over to this place and back to my place in about 10 minutes. That's probably what I will do next time. Avoid the delivery service, but otherwise pretty solid.

Yeah, yes, HELL YES. Loved this place, I was skeptical when I walked in because we were being served by someone in flip flops but we came in during the afternoon. Anyways, the prices on the menu might throw u a lil off but once those plates of food come out man!!! You'll understand why. Excellent customer service, they tended to me very well. The lunch special is a good portion and the alcoholic beverages are prepared with love. Definitely some of the best Indian food In the Miami area! I will be back here next month for my birthday!

A bit of a let down. I found this place through Yelp since I don't know the area well. It is located at a very busy, full of restaurants of different ethnicities strip mall, but I was craving Indian. We came in and out server came around a couple of time to ask our order but we were not ready, so that took a while, we asked what their specialty was, northern as opposed as southern Indian cuisine and the like, or their best dish, but he was not very helpful, or didn't know hot to explain. When we placed our order we realized it's very a la carte, everything had to be ordered separately, which I've never seen at an Indian restaurant before. All in all, each dish was about $25+. It took a long time for the food to come, and I mean a long time. The place appeared to be empty. There is an outside seating area that may have been busy, but in the inside dining area there was only us and another party of two, I have the worst luck coming into places with slow service! Food came, it was good, but for the price, it was a let down. My dish was full of peppers and onions and four bite sized pieces of chicken, so did my friend's, a lot of sauce, very little meat. I'm giving it three starts because the food was good, portion and service not so much. I am not coming back to this one.

The food was decent but overpriced. The service was awful. We waited for our food for over two hours and when it arrived I was not impressed. I have had better Indian food before. We went for a friend's birthday and there was no desert offered. I was not impressed with my experience.

    (2)
  • Sampa Y.

Not impressed at all. What I really disliked about this place is that they served Mutter paneer that tasted just like Ragu tomato sauce (yes, the one we buy on any supermarket). Come on people, this is not indian food.

When we walked in we found the restaurant to be beautifully decorated with very friendly service. For this they get 2 stars. After ordering drinks we perused the extensive menu. We were with a small group. We learned that Rice does. NOT come with any of the dishes. My friend and I ordered: tokri chaat: bird's nest of potatoes filled with chickpeas, potatoes, onions, tomatoes combined with yogurt, served with tamarind and mint chutneys. This sounds delicious. It was awful. The "nest" tasted stale. The fillings seemed like seeds and every leftover scrap they could find in the kitchen. My entree was: subz seekh: broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and bell peppers marinated with herbs. I asked for the dish with no bell peppers. It arrived full of bell peppers. The vegetables were dried out cauliflower and broccoli with heavy paprika. It tasted awful. My friend ordered the: dal tadka: yellow lentils cooked with onions and tomatoes. It tasted like yellow split pea soup. (at least this was somewhat tasty) After our meals were complete we waited about 2 hours for our check. No one could figure out how to individualize the bills. Finally, after 2 hours, we individually went up to the cash register where the owner and waiter struggled to calculate what we owed. Prices were much higher than should be for the food we ate. I have eaten Indian food in many Indian restaurants, as well as in India itself. I even cook Indian food at home. This was my worst experience with Indian "cuisine"

OK so they dropped my food on the floor outside and thought I didn't see it and tried to serve it to me. Are you kidding me?!?!???!?? Once i complained the manager woman came over, gave us the most half as apology and went on to basically defend thw situation because the server was "new" Never offered to comp the bill or discount. Food was mediocre and over priced

The food was ok. The waiter recommended a lamb dish we didn't like and he didn't take it off check. Also didn't like the fact that they charge for rice. The chicken tikka masala was good.

  • Roberto R.

Went here with friends. The place is in a plaza with many other options to choose from, which is good. We were sited quickly and the waiter was attentive enough. However, the food took a long time to come out even though the place was pretty empty. I order something and they came back to tell me they had run out of it, i order the next similar thing on the list but it was about $5 more. The place is nice enough but it is not fancy by any means. Paying $32 for an entry without sides is a bit much. By the time i added rice, i was in the neighborhood of $40. The food itself was really good. In the end, price is A bit much for the place and the food took too long to come out. I would not be repeating with so many other choices in the area. If you want indian and don't mind price and speed, you will enjoy this place better that me.

This place has excellent Indian food. From their tandoor dishes to their dosas. Their vindaloo has a nice spice that will leave your grasping for water. Their decor is a little strange. When I first started going there the entire restaurant was normal table and chairs. However, at some point they changed half of the restaurant to a giant count and odd plastic chairs. I ate in that section once and found the seating uncomfortable and awkward. Also, there have been times were the service is a little slow and seems disorganized, even when the restaurant is not busy. Overall the service and food and are excellent. The staff are inviting and welcoming and the owners are always present to make sure your experience is a good one.

I became addicted to Indian food as a Medical student living in St. Kitts. My family did not take to my new found cuisine!! They brought me here for my birthday and they ate more then I did!! If you've never tried Indian food before this is as good as it gets! Every dish was spot on delicious!! Would highly recommend!!!!!

Our server was very rude & arrogant. He even made us feel like he is doing some kind of favor by serving food. He argued with one of our friend and threatened to stop the order. Unfortunately, I don't have his name to share. Thanks to the manager, who was kind enough to replace the server. Food was good. But be aware of ordering any kind of drinks. I was charged 12$/ beer !

Delicious food. Excellent ambience. Best Indian food I tried in Miami. Naan / parantha was okay. But gravies were just awesome. I tried Vegetarian north Indian food. - nazam e lazzat and mushroom masala.

  • Arijeet S.

Easily the most expensive (Indian) restaurant! Three dishes of vegetarian dishes and 2 beers crossed the $100 mark. The Palak Paneer was too hot. The bhindi masala was over cooked and Gobi was ok. Nothing earth shattering that you have to fork out extra monies. I asked for some onion and chilis and got charged for that. The Nans were cold. It does not have competition and therefore charging what they feel like with substandard food. Hope these review comments are heeded and the owner takes care. The waiting staff were very cordial.

Please don't let the location dissuade you from trying this gem of a restaurant. It's located in a strip mall close to business end of south beach Miami. It is definitely an expensive restaurant but the food is worth the price. They have both outside and inside seating and being a pleasant day in the early part of June we decided to sit out. Chocolate kama sutra martini was strong and tasty. Chicken lollipop was delicious. Garlic naan was soft and very tasty as long as one eats it hot. Mushroom soup was creamy and better than the tomato shorba which was too tangy for our taste. Kadhai paneer and the veg dum biryani was yummy. Service was a tad bit slow but that gave us ample time to sit and digest our food, so no complaints there. Overall a must visit place if you don't pay attention to the inverse relationship of the weight of your wallet to that of yourself.

this is so far, the worst restaurant i've been!!!!! stay away from this place! insanely expensive for what i got, they charged on my bill for food that i didn't order and when i told them that my bill was wrong, the manager / owner got so mad and he called me liar!!!!!!!! i almost called the police and my husband is looking for a lawyer to get involved on this humiliating situation. the owner / manager is so rude. for the first time in my life i'm writing a bad review to someone. i'm the kind of person who loves to compliment but everyone should be aware about this place!!!!!! we had to pay for things that we didn't eat! this was crazy! they should shut down this restaurant and put the owner in jail. i paid the total of $125 for the most terrible food and service of my life. stay away from this place! do yourself a favor!!!!!!

Been here a fews times, it's a pretty good place. Not many other Inidan restaraunts in the area. It is well designed and clean, the service is good as well. The food is great, especially the "Khazan-e-Lazzat". The only con is that it's a bit overpriced for what it is. Sides are separate as well. Overall I like it, and will definitely come back when I am in the area.

Copper Chimney makes a solid effort to satisfy the hunger of curry lovers in Miami. Samosas and tandoori chicken especially tasty. The Indian food scene in Miami is predominated with such restaurants that fall into the "very good but not extraordinary" category, including Ayesha, Bombay Darbar, and Imlee. Living in Brickell, I wouldn't necessarily make the journey up to Sunny Isles to go to this particular place when similar options are much closer.

El naan no me gusto mucho, he comido mejores.

We all crave a good curry when we are on holiday so we were pleased to see that this restaurant was close to our resort. The interior is fresh and modern and the staff are all very kind and accommodating. The meal was delicious! It even got a thumbs up from my super picky son who loved the Chicken Tikka and the naan. The only disappointment were the poppadoms which were rather tasteless and lacked the signature 'snap' when you broke them. Other than that, I would say that the Copper Chimney is great for Indian food in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

Ok, so we went there in Sunday-2 people, they have an average buffet, a bit expensive, they don't have a big selection, and most of the buffet trays was empty. No selection of desserts, and the most annoying(!!!!) thing they charge you 15% gratuity mandatory for food that you serve to yourself! We paid $60, 2 people, 1 drink, and one bread that should come with the meal. charge you more for most of the selections. Not recommended!

My friends and I decided to visit this restaurant because it was the only Indian restaurant participating with Miami spice. We visited it on a Tuesday so it was pretty empty but there was still people dining; it's located in a very busy shopping center in sunny isles. Lots of other restaurants in the same shopping center so there is a lot going on. The waitress was very helpful and made our dining experience so much better offering us suggestions and explanations for all the dishes on the menu. Since it was three of us, we decided to order different items in order to try them all. First course: Mulligatwny shorba - lental soup and the chimney salad. Both very good. Second Course: Shammi kebab - lamb and lentil pattie (very dry and very simple) Delhi ki aloo paneer tikki - potato pancake stuffed with cheese (my friends enjoyed this more than I did, since it had the sweet seasoning. But it was tasty) Gobi Manchurian - battered cauliflower in a soy-based chili-garlic sauce (this was my favorite of the dish) enjoyed it very much Entrée: Both served with rice murg tikka masala - Chicken in a tomatoe - onion sauce (ordered a mild to medium spice and it was perfect) maseledar bhuna gosht - lamb sauteed with onions and tomatoes - not bad Dessert pista kulfi - home-made indian ice cream - more like an icee gulab jamun - golden fried milk doughnuts mango mousse - my favorite.

I can say, without a doubt, and a straight face, that I definitely have experienced better and I'd be lying if I said otherwise. Sorry, but their lunch buffet is not only unimpressive, but expensive, and we were all greatly disappointed, especially when the bill arrived. We were a large group of about 25 and the service was a bit cold, and not very attentive and welcoming. The lunch buffet came out to $26 per person (the most I have EVER paid for a lunch buffet, period), and that included tax and gratuity (I think the mandatory gratuity they tack on to the bill is 18%). I could hear the collective dismay in my fellow diners' sighs after receiving the bill. The fact that they force you to pay for mimosas even when you're not ordering them is irritating enough to guarantee people not wanting to return (why pay for something you didn't consume?), but then the tandoori chicken was bland, the rogan josh barely had any meat, and the food was not spicy at all; not even on a mild level, a pre-requisite when eating Indian food. The selection itself was mediocre as well. Having eaten at a lot of Indian joints and having plenty of Desi friends, I wouldn't say I am an authority on the subject, but I can say that I have experienced a substantial amount of Indian cuisine and we all agreed we have had better (and much cheaper!) lunch buffets elsewhere. When you have a place like Indian Chillies, or Taste of India in Palm Beach, that charges about $15 and offers more of a flavorful selection, you really get to see the difference between "I can charge more for the hell of it because it is Sunny Isles" and good cooking that is refreshingly affordable. If people are too blind to realize they're being overcharged because of the establishment's rent and their need to pass on this expense to the customer, that's their concern. As to me, I refuse to patronize places that feel they can charge an arm and a leg because of their location, especially if the food itself is unremarkable.

I came here with my friend for Miami Spice but we ended up just ordering from their regular menu. It was a lovely experience because their food really does taste good. I had the chicken korma which is one of my favorite Indian dishes. Their chicken tastes very tender and the sauce is rich and creamy. We ordered the balsamati rice and that was so good too because they cooked the rice perfectly and blended with some herbs. The salmon we had was a bit over cooked but the taste was good. The decor doesn't look like an Indian restaurant. We sat on a pretty white couch in front of a gigantic TV watching Bollywood. I thought it was nice watching Bollywood, but it did start to repeat though. The server was nice but I think he was new because it took him a long time to serve us our cocktails and bring us the bill. Other than that, the food is excellent. I would go back again.

There are a very few Indian restaurants that I can say are good. There are even less that I would go to over and over again. I am Indian and I think I am a great cook. But the food at Copper Chimney was some of the best I have ever had. Usually there are a few good dishes and a few average dishes. We ordered the vegi and meat sample platter, lamb curry and chicken lollipops. Everything was amazing. The waiters were also very attentive, which at most indian restaurants is the biggest problem. Highly recommended. Will be back soon.

Being an Indian, I can tell you guys that this is by far the best Indian restaurant I have found in Miami beach area. Here are few reasons why: 1. A warm welcome by a polite waitress. 2. Nice decor with outside sitting area. 3. Parking outside the restaurant. 4. While ordering, I got carried away and was about to order too much food. The waitress politely explained the portion sizes and saved me from wasting food and money. 5. Waitress was eastern European but knew every single item on the menu in detail. 6. Now the food: great quality food, no floating oil on top, not bland or too spicy, great authentic Indian flavors & spices. My whole family was very impressed with the food quality (including my parents visiting from India) Waitress explained the spice levels and food was exactly as ordered. 7. Garlic naan (type of bread) is to die for!! Even better than most Indian restaurants in India. Great overall experience. I strongly recommend this place if you guys like Indian food.

Went for the first time introduce a friend to Indian food, which I love. Beautiful restaurant and gorgeous atmosphere. The food, however, was average. I prefer my shrimp masala without large chunks of onions and the green peppers stood out entirely too much. I've had better. Garlic naan was good. Tandoori roti was also good. Mango lassi tasted amazing and fresh. I would recommend it.

I had been wanting to try this place for quite some time, so when my friend suggested we try their Spice menu, I was down! It was a little difficult to get to as Collins Ave. was busy around 7pm and the parking lot was a total cluster, but once inside, we relaxed immediately! The interior is dim (maybe a little too dim; it was kind of hard to read the menu) with different types of seating - regular table or super sexy sofas! We opted for a table to avoid spills! The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Spice menus were presented without having to ask. The wine list was reasonable and the waitress made some recommendations. We both ordered from the spice menu; started with the lentil soup, then I had the potato app and friend had the cauliflower. I next had the seafood curry and she had the lamb. We finished up with ice cream (cardamom flavored, WOW!) and the Indian donut. The portions were perfect; the meal came with unlimited naan and plenty of basmati rice. The food was flavorful but I would have gone a click spicier. Service was good - waters were re-filled frequently and as it wasn't crowded on a Wednesday night, we were given plenty of time to sit, eat and catch up on girl talk. I had thought the regular menu looked a tad pricey, so I"m glad I had the chance to sample during Spice. It is definitely worth it and I will be back for a return visit after Spice is over.

We ordered bombay bhel and murg lollipops for appetizers both of which were good. For the entree we ordered their dhabha murg which was so-so. It was missing something, may be salt. The garlic naan and the rumali roti were on the okay side. The restaurant has good ambiance but is a little expensive considering the quality of food.

Came in here a weeknight as we were craving some indian food. The prices are on the high side, but not too bad. After being seated quickly we had very good service. There seems to be an Indian couple here, but all the staff and servers are Russian which is a bit odd. There were a TON of kids running around this place out of control, thankfully it quieted down soon after. We ordered some samosas, rice, naan, other bread (forget the name), lamb vindaloo, and chicken tikka massala. Samosas were very good, I give them a high rating. The naan was decent, but the layered bread was excellent. I was happy they were able to make lamb vindaloo, the sauce was hot (I ordered it hot) and it was DAMN hot, but very good. The lamb was superb, and perfectly cooked. I tried my wife's tikka, but it was way too creamy for me, it should have had much less cream. Overall this is a good option, once again the prices are high, so I'm knocking off a star.

Disclaimer... I have not ordered any Menu item at this restaurant. I have however, enjoyed their very nice Sunday buffet. I visited with my wife and kids, and the food was awesome, there was a great variety, although I will love to see more south Indian dishes since my wife is vegetarian. Kids ate for free and the adults got a complementary glass of sparkling wine. I will surely visit this place again, but it will be hard for me to go any other day now that I had such a good experience with the buffet.

The best dish was Gobi Manchurian, we liked it so much that as soon as we tasted it, we ordered another serving (there were only three of us). Andrew was our waiter and was very helpful and friendly. On our way in, we noticed two hookahs on one of the tables outside. We had never smoked hookah before and asked him lots of questions about it. He made our post-dinner hookah blend (guava and grape) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I would definitely go back here, the next time I am in the area.

Would have given a higher rating. However, hadnt not benn further initial 15 mins waiting for a server. The lady Manager was in a loud shouting argument with the waiters. We could hear it from our table and cause the rest of the waiters distractions and not sble to wait the tables. Good food.

The food here is AMAZING. We had dose, idli, palak, bharta, and a few other veg dishes. We were blown away. We are from NYC and day a TON of Indian food and have lived in India for a bit. We conducer ourselves experts and this restaurant was divine. The Indian Server was a delight- so sweet and kind. The service was a bit slow but the food more than made up for it. Great, large portions...ENJOY

I love South Indian food and this is one of the few restaurants in Miami that has it. The Idlis, dosas, and upma are good enough to satisfy a craving! This Indian restaurant is better than most I've tried in Miami, though not stellar. Nevertheless I'll keep coming back and I'm glad it's around.

It is not about interior or vibe, or people, it is all about food. And food is amazing in addition to very good services. Good food + good services=Success.

What Copper chimney excels at is very good Indian food in a comfortable setting -- with white spacious leather couches, orange cushions, high ceilings, friendly staff, hidden in the corner of a strip mall. The Murg Tikka Masal ($19) is chewy with a fiery kick (even for medium) that is complemented nicely by Garlic Naan ($5) and steamed rice ($3). The Gulab Jamun ($6) (fried pastry) is another of my favorites. The Bollywood music videos are another nice twist. Dinner pricing is reasonable for Sunny Isles, but their lunch specials for $14 include rice, naan, and salad and are where the most value is at.

Great service and ambience. They have a full bar which is really rare in Indian restaurants. My friends and I enjoyed sitting outside and the food was great. Only thing I didn't like was that the Chicken Tikka Masala has more veggies than chicken. Other than that, it was a great dining experience. Next time I visit Miami, I will definitely stop by this place again!

Great atmosphere, the restaurant is very spacious and what I liked is that the tables are not on top of each other. The service is great as the as the "Russian" server explained the menu in detail. The only thing was that after deciding from this massive menu, we found out they did not have the fish we wanted. But it turned out to be okay because our party of three had 3 different entrées that were all delicious. I would go to this restaurant again...highly recommended!

The food was really awesome, the Indian curries were really fantastic. South Indian dosa was simply awesome. I just though that the samosas needs to be improved, they lacked salt and India flavor.

Wasn't sure about it, was almost empty during lunch, but enjoyed the experience. The waiter (Lithuanian girl) was really good, fast and professional. They offered different selection of teas, a cup of tea was really a large mug that lasted the whole meal. Their Tikka Masala chicken was pretty tasty. For vegetarian choice, my husband ordered Bhindi-Do-Piyaza, which is their okra dish and although it was tasty, it was missing some kind of sauce and he ended up dipping his okra into my chicken's sauce. The best thing was their Naan bread. Soooo good, I couldn't stop eating it. The place was pretty clean. Why one star short of 5? Besides okra needed a sauce, their bathroom had the worst smell ever. I don't know what the heck happened in there, but it wasn't a person's smell, it was really strong and I happened to go right before I started eating and it almost ruined my appetite.

The Copper Chimney is our favorite Indian restaurant in South Florida! We go there often since we really enjoy Indian cuisine, and their dishes are amazing! The menu is quite expansive and you don't have to wait a long time for the dishes come out. They have delicious vegetarian options that will make any fan of indian food feel right at home, especially since the owners are very welcoming and will do anything to make sure you are happy. It is a romantic laid back place and is very relaxing. They have a big screen showing Bollywood music videos, and live music on weekends. Our favorite server is Diana. She is very attentive, and always recommends the best dishes. You can let her know if you like the food to be prepared mild, or as spicy as you wish. When you first sit down, they serve you a basket of pappad (stone ground lentil crackers), baked in the tandoor, with sauces to dip them in. The butter chicken is amazing over Jeera rice (basmati rice infused with cumin. Some of my other favorite dishes are skewers of lamb, flavored with nutmeg and cloves, tandoori chicken breast, palak paneer (indian cheese) simmered in pureed spinach, and channa masala (chickpeas cooked in a tomato-onion sauce). The garlic naan is amazing, as is the paneer kulcha-naan baked in the tandoor, stuffed with paneer (indian cheese). Our favorite appetizer is the bhindi kurmuri (thinly sliced okra dusted with flour). It has an amazing flavor.

Delicious! All the food I tried was great, but the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Shiva, taught us all about the different dishes that interested us and made some recommendations based on what we thought we'd like to try. He got it all right! I tried chicken tika masala (great), an eggplant dish with peas (loved), an appetizer that had potato pancakes, chickpeas, paneer and sauces (really great), and garlic naan (so fluffy and flavorful!). I am not an experienced Indian diner and I really appreciated the recommendations. Shiva guided us outside the box and I was so pleased. I'll definitely go back and try more of his recommendations. Oh...and we had both the mango and the sweet lassi drinks. Both were delicious and helpful in balancing out the spice of the dishes.

In the corner of a Sunny Isles strip mall there is a hidden gem of authentic Indian food that should truly be on everyone's best of Miami list. Copper Chimney is amazing, hands down the best Indian food in Miami! Copper Chimney specializes in Tandoor (clay oven) dishes. The food is spicy; the kind of spicy where your tongue is burning but you still can't stop eating because it is so delicious. Unless you like your dishes with a lot of heat, ask for mild. We went for medium, it was almost too hot to handle but with the spice came an irresistible burst of flavor. Copper Chimney is family owned. The owners are gracious hosts who clearly have a lot of pride for the quality of both food and service. Bollywood movies play in the background while patrons feast on simmering dishes, succulent sauces and baskets of fresh naan. Here is a link to Copper Chimney's menu, check it out before you go because there are over 50 delicious Indian dishes for you to choose from. For those of you who feel that Sunny Isles is a little out of your way, there is still hope. I was told Copper Chimney plans to open a second location in Downtown Miami, which we are very excited about. Enjoy! DH For more local Miami reviews check out DannyHertzbergBlog.com

Ok let's start. Being Indian and moving to Sunny Isles, Fl this is the only Indian restaurant on the Island. I ordered Channa Masala , Baigan Bharta along with Tandoori chicken . One thing that i adored was their Garlic Naan that was the best thing for me on the menu. One thing i would say that it is a reasonable price considering it's in sunny isles.

The owner met us in the front door of the restaurant raving about how his food was the best indian food in FL. We looked at menu and figured it looked moderately priced. Being first timers to indian cuisine restaurants, we were told that we could adjust and remove items to our tastes. Well when we were seated we greeted by a waiter that barely spoke english. My husband and I decided on appetizer: samosa (good not great). Husband ordered captain and diet (it took 2 trips for waiter to confirm captain "on rocks" with "diet coke"). Then when we order our main entree's. I ordered grouper my husband seafood curry with no mussels. We were instructed that we would also need to order rice and naan (both add on's). From start to finish we were here 2 hours, food is extremely slow. Also, my husbands meal had mussels in it which he hates and had asked to be removed. Food was just ok to me, I have made better in my own kitchen. To top it all off when our bill came the waiter gave himself a18% tip automatically. Since when does dinner for two warrant directly adding gratuity to the bill?? So, dinner for two $95.00 for food and one alcoholic beverage and one appetizer. This was way more than this meal was worth. So, watch your uncharges and hidden gratuity, if you decide to dine here.

I loved it. Food was great, service was great. Every single time. Drove there couple of times for dinner all the way from Ft.Lauderdale. My friend and I overstayed once for 2 hours after dinner and just talked and hung out. We weren't rushed to pay or anything else. I really love this place. My favorite Indian

Sunny Isles is not the first place one thinks about when pondering where to go for Indian food. In fact, South Florida is not the first place one thinks about when pondering Indian food. Copper Chimney, I think, changes the thought process. What may appear as a small restaurant on the outside becomes an open and airy restaurant inside. The pleasant experience of walking into the restaurant carries through to the food and service. The menu is deep--very deep. This may be intimidating because, at least for me, my Indian food knowledge is limited at best. But the servers do an admirable job explaining the dishes and offering helpful suggestions and recommendations. I have been the restaurant on several occasions, and have not started to scratch the surface of the menu. But I did hit on three strong dishes. One dish is the Chimney Tandoor Platter, which is a combination of chicken, lamb, and seafood. My general experience with Tandoori is that the clay oven used to prepare the dish (the Tandoor) inevitably dries out the chicken. Not here. While the proteins had the signature red/orange hue, they more important retained their moisture, which made the dish a standout. Another dish is the Lamb Rogan Josh. The color of the dish may not scream appeal, but remember that much of life is about how you arrive, not how you drive. The chunks of lamb hidden in that gravy are full of happy farm-life flavor. And the gravy is rich in fragrance, not heat. That combination of lamb and gravy just sings. Another dish is the Lamb Parda Biryani. Nothing other than naan (the Indian bread) serves as a better vehicle for absorbing the sauces, curries, and other liquids that flavor Indian food than rice. With this dish, the basmati rice is placed in a bowl to which lamb, saffron, and spices are added. The bowl then is covered with dough and cooked. It is that steaming of the rice, lamb, and spices under the dough that later turns golden brown and crispy that marries everything together. Copper Chimney presents diners with the opportunity to tour a deep menu of heavy-hitting Indian dishes from all parts of the subcontinent. More important, Copper Chimney allows diners to take that tour, whether the diner is experience or new to Indian cuisine, in an open and inclusive environment. This is a wonderful place for diners new and old to the cuisine to enjoy Indian food.

I love the food, but the prices make it hard to recommend. They have a super selection of Indian food, ranging from spicy to simple, to saucey or grilled Tandori style. I am super happy with the quality of food and the great service. But they charge for every little thing a la carte to the point I feel taken advantage of... Want bread? Pay for it. Want rice with your meal? Pay for it. Want a side with your already-over-priced entree, pay for it. (I was affraid to use the salt and pepper shakers, since they probably charge for that too.) Dinner for 2 with one drink each could easily run $80, without coffee or dessert. That being said, it is the only negative comment I can make for Copper Chimney. You get great food, for an arm and a leg... After two visits, that makes is hard to go back since there are soooo many other places for great food, but at half the price. Inside is beautiful. Outside, you are sitting at the edge of the parking lot, which is not very scenic or fun. The staff is very friendly, usually Russian waitresses with a smile. Service is very attentive and efficient. They are in a large strip mall with interesting stores to window-shop for an after-dinner stroll.

Went here one night with the entire family. I read some reviews so I knew what to expect. I read it was a little pricey but since I heard the food was good from some friends we decided to give it a try and the $2 coupon for $25 value from restaurant.com made up for the $$. We ordered grilled chicken something for our 3 kids to share...It was recommended by the waitress as being good for kids since it wasnt spicy....wifey order the chicken tikka something and I had the vegetarian sampler...regular naan, garlic naan, jasmine rice and jeera rice.. 2 of my 3 kids are picky eaters..but they enjoyed the food...good recommendation...the chicken came out almost like fajita style grilled on hot plate on top of some shredded veggies. They have never had naan before and I was telling them about it and they really liked it...whats not to like about good naan. Wifey dish was ok. I tried the sauce....Ive had better. I would rate it as average. She actually was against Indian food based on a past experience but I told her if she every tries good Indian food she would be a fan. She said the dish was good, better than her past experience but she wasnt raving about it. My vegetarian sampler was just ok. They were missing some items so they doubled down on the other items. No complaints on the quantity. I left full with left overs but I just didnt leave satisfied. I was disappointed they didnt have a vegetarian curry sampler. Overall the service was good. We were the only ones inside for dinner. Granted it was early and people did show up eventually. My son asked me why we were the only ones there. I think it was a tuesday. The server forgot to make the jeera rice which was fine because we didnt need it. The bill was over $90 with tip and came out to $70 something with the coupon. I guess I would agree that its overpriced but not too bad considering it fed 5. The kids chicken dish which was 6 pieces of chicken maybe 8 ounces with a bowl of rice was $19 bucks...wifeys dish was just ok....same price as other dish which I think is also overpriced for just being ok. My dish was ok for price vs quantity but was a little disappointed in missing items and was lacking flavor. Too much dry rub and not enough sauce. It didnt taste and feel like I was eating Indian food. Naan was excellent and the pompadoms and sauce was good. If they had a vegetarian curry sampler, I would consider going back for another try, but for that kind of money for a family of 5 there are a lot better choices IMO. Without the coupon I dont know if I would even consider it. FWIW none of the staff I saw were Indian which is unusual for an Indian restaurant. From what I ate and saw, in comparison to GURU on South Beach, GURU puts this place to shame....the place looks like it has potential but I just wasnt satisfied. I was really hoping this place would exceed my expectations based on recommendations and reviews and being so close to my neighborhood I had high hopes. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dish...should I give them another try??

Probably the best Indian I have ever had! I loved the environment, lush booths and a projection tv of Indian themed music videos. My boyfriend is Indian, and even he enjoyed it. Beware, when you ask for spicy it is tear jerking spicy.

I have made this restaurant my home for Indian food. I have gone over a dozen times. The food is as good as any I have tasted in an Indian food restaurant or similar. I always order the exact same thing, but I have tasted some other items I enjoyed. I can recommend regular na'an, chicken tiki masala and veggie somosas for sure! It is an expensive experience compared to some other restaurants, so that is why I gave four stars instead of five. I would have given 4.5 if I could. Either way, see you soon!

Food was bad, returned it and they still charged me for it. They served my 3 year old son an alcoholic beverage, didn't look right so I tasted it before giving it to him. Supposed to be Apple Juice. The only thing that was decent was service!! Will NOT go back!!

First time there (Saturday at 6:30) based on reviews. Corner spot in a shopping center with outside seating which would have been nice but not in July. Too hot and humid. Inside could have been a lot cooler and better lit. So dark I could hardly read the menu. We knew it was a pricey place but hoped the food would make it worth it. It really didn't. Started off with Bikaneri Cheat (8.00), a mix of crisps, chick peas, potatoes mixed with yogurt, tamarind and mint chutney (so so). Entrées were Murg Saag (19.00), chicken sautéed with ginger and garlic cooked with blended spinach (pretty good). Lucknowi Boti Ke (20.00), Lamb chunks cooked with onions and spices. The meat was bland and had a mushy texture (not good). Subz Biryani (16.00), Vegetables and rice infused with saffron and selected spices (good). Garlic Naan was very good (5.00). For dessert Gulab Jamun (6.00), 2 tiny fried milk donuts soaked in cardamom infused honey syrup. Always good but so small for the price. Service was pretty good but for $74 plus tax plus tip not worth it. There is better around for less $$$.

Every time I try a new Indian place I try the Tikka Masala first. This time wasn't any different. It did not disappoint. The service was good and the place is comfy. The garlic naan was outstanding. I'll come back and try the other dishes, perhaps there's another star coming.

No contest, Copper Chimney and Bombay Durbar are the best - also the most expensive - Indian restaurants in the Miami area that I know of. Went to Copper Chimney tonight. I am on a strict budget before Christmas, and when I got the menu I was a bit panicky at the prices. So I ordered vegetarian, started with samosas ($5) which were big, had a terrific cilantro chutney, a salad, and some red onion chutney., Both dishes were $12 and the plain boiled rice was $3. I had bengan bartha, which was outstanding, and cauliflower masala, which kept the cauliflower in whole florets, instead of a bit smashed around a bit, which isn't the way I really like it, but it was so delicious that I managed to overlook that, lol. The food was awesome, the service by a young lady from Minsk, Belarus, was superb, and I was really happy. The decor is probably what upscale restaurants look like in Indian cities, white vinyl banquettes and cushions, very modernistic in a black and white 80's way, no flocked wallpaper or bead curtains. A huge TV screen was playing Indian movies to round out the experience. It seems the meat and fish dishes are expensive, the veggie meal I had was really reasonable, with two glasses of wine included, the bill came to just over $40, which is more than I ought to be spending, but I decided that is my Christmas present to me! I highly recommend Copper Chimney, and I will be there next time I'm ready for a splurge.

My search for the a great Indian restaurant in South Florida is over. Having experienced disappointment a number of times at other establishments, I am pleased to write a glowing review for this restaurant as the food was amazing and our server, Alexei, was very knowledgeable and attentive. The decor is upscale (apparently this used to be Russian restaurant so it doesn't look like a typical Indian restaurant). There is also a good sized patio out front. We enjoyed the live music on the small stage the night we had dinner there. We just ordered two dishes (along with the garlic Naan) - the masaledar bhuna lamb (a saucy dish - lamb sautéed with onions and tomatoes) and the kerala seafood curry (scallops, shrimp, mussels and fish cooked in a coconut-onion sauce) and both were outstanding. We asked for both entrees to be made spicy rather than mild and they definitely had a kick to them. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth tender and the sauces for both entrees were amazing. The portion sizes were reasonable (not huge) and the cost was on the higher end of what I typically pay for Indian food in Toronto but given the quality of the food, we didn't mind too much. This restaurant will most certainly be added to our rotation of places we love.

Kind of aggressive pricing, charge extra for rice dinner time, (18%) tip included. Cuisine is not worth it, on the other hand only Indian restaurant in Sunny Isles / Aventura.

This is probably the worst Indian restaurant I've ever been too.. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants in different states and this is by far the most tasteless food ever!! I ordered a "medium" tiki masala, which the waitress claimed would be "very spicy." I've had mild hot wings with more spice. I would not recommend anyone wasting their money there. There is nothing authentic about this Indian restaurant. Especially including the Russian server.. If I could give them negative stars I would!!!

This place is insanely addictive & good! Went there new to Indian cuisine and the server was more than helpful in recommending signature dishes that in his opinion were made better than anywhere he's ever had them himself. I had the rogan josh and let me tell you, I could have eaten another serving! Not that the portion was small, it was just that good! Make sure you order some garlic naan for sauce dipping through the meal! 5 stars! Keep up the good work, this will be a regular spot for me now!

Excellent quality, and spot on Indian flavors. However, I've never been to any Asian restaurant that doesn't include white rice with whatever entree is ordered... Especially with these prices.

I'm giving 5 stars, to offset the 1star jerkoffs here... I've eatin here at least a dozen times. Copper Chimney is one of my favorite joints in Florida. The food is very good. The staff is great, and the owner is very friendly. Yes, you should know what you are ordering... or ask for advice. I'm from San Francisco, I know good Indian food. And I wouldn't compare this to that...however, this is real indian. I've ordered several dishes not on the menu - all very well made. *Tip: Start with the scallops & Garlic Na'an; )

  • Anh L.

I order the chicken curry and it was so tasty. I think they added a little bit of vegetables in the curry to add more flavor. The rice is sold seperately from the entree. I also order two rice which cost me $3 each. Chicken curry was $16 those were the cheapest item on the menu. Therefore, each individual would expect to pay $20 or more for one dish. The food is good quality, however it is very expensive restaurant.

I just tried this restaurant for the first time, with pretty low expectations. Coming from a place with a large Indian population, South Florida has routinely disappointed me with subpar Indian restaurants over the past eight years. I'm pleased to say that Copper Chimney did not follow suit. All of our food was fresh and tasty. This was my fiancé's second time trying Indian food, and he completely changed his opinion. The prices are a little high, but not nearly as high as other Indian restaurants in the city. The service was also good, and our waitress, though not Indian, had a good knowledge of what paired well on the menu. We had samosas, Seafood curry and Tikka masala with mint lemonade. It was well worth our 40 minute drive and I highly recommend Copper Chimney.

Love the customer service here. Everyone is friendly and attentive. A bit pricey for Indian food, but the food is excellent. Butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala and the garlic naan are my favorites. For dessert: had the gulab jamun and ramalai was tasted freshly made and therefore super yummy! I definitely recommend this place.

This was my first time having Indian Food and I highly enjoyed it. The food tasted amazing, the portions were generous and we received great service. The server was very knowledgeable on the food and he helped us order a great meal. I can't recall everything we ordered, but what I can recall are: The Vegetarian Samosa, the Chicken Manchurian, two beers, their special rice and some other delicious things. I am looking forward to eating at this restaurant again and trying new meals. The prices were high, but I did not have an issue with it - you pay what you get for and we got a great meal.

It's always nice to walk into a family owned restaurant, but that always comes with pros and cons. Pros - the food was delicious. We're not the most educated Indian cuisine diners, and we rarely know what we're ordering, but the waiter was very friendly, and helped us understand the dishes a bit more. Cons - it was a full house, so the ability for the wait staff to monitor the tables was a bit difficult - luckily we were in no rush, so we were not upset. The costs are a bit expensive, but it's not easy to find a decent indian restaurant, so you end up paying for the convenience.

Great food and wonderful atmosphere. We ordered the palaak paneer and the eggplant with peas and tomatoes. Our server was so helpful; we were all set to order three items, but she warned us about the size of the plates (she was right; each entrée has a LOT of food!) and helped us whittle our choices down to the best two. My boyfriend wanted his food a bit spicier, but I was very happy with the spice level of the dishes. We will definitely be back!

Loved it from start to the end of all four dinner courses of the Miami Spice menu. The service is very attentive and was very assertive in his recommendations. We stopped by for an early dinner. Nice place tucked in the corner of a strip mall. We really liked the food (comparable to our fav spots in the East Village, NYC) but this place is extremely over priced. About double the price we'd pay in NYC. Drink & dessert prices were outrageous (and weren't displayed) which really bumped up the price. Swatting flies from our naan wasn't very appetizing either. Still on the hunt for a delicious cheap eat Indian place in SoFlo.

  • Linda S.

I think this jewel of a restaurant may be the best Indian food I have ever eaten, and that is really saying something! It is tucked in the corner of a strip mall with a liquor store, a frozen yogurt place and a casual eating cafe as neighbors, but don't let this location put you off, this restaurant knows what they're doing. The depth of flavor I found in both the chicken tikka masala and the lamb rogan josh spoke to hours of simmering fresh ingredients. The meat of both dishes was exquisitely trimmed so not one bite was unpleasant. The garlic naan was light and perfectly spiced. I was just a little surprised that there was a charge for rice but at $3 a bowl, I hardly care in the light of the fact that everything was so good. The staff were friendly, polite and quite efficient. I wish this restaurant was closer to my home in California! So if you find yourself anywhere in the neighborhood, I highly recommend you stop in for a meal.

My friend and I came here for lunch. The place on the inside looks a little bit like a nightclub. The lunch specials were a bit pricey, but I have to remember that I am on the beach. The presentation was nice, but the food left a little something to be desired. Something was definitely off about the lamb dishes, so I focused on the side of vegetables and salad. To the waiter's credit, he did try to have a new lamb dish prepared for me, but I didnt want to chance it. I would not return. There are too many better places to eat in the area.

I waited 2 hours for the food to be delivered, when the food arrived it wasn't what I expected.!!!! I ordered the chicken curry, dark meat and bland.... Veg pakora wasn't even what I expected.... It didn't even look authentic nor did it even taste nice.... I'm basing this on the food I ordered for take away maybe

  • Niki B.

I wish we had half ratings... the food was a solid 4, but given the price, I'd knock it down half a star. Indian food isn't typically pricey, at least in the NY area. Since I may be off base for Miami, I prefer to round up. We ordered the murg makhani (butter chicken), the tandoori paneer, a garlic naan, a butter naan, and finished with a masala chai. The butter chicken and tandoori paneer were great! The portions are quite generous, and it was more than enough food for the 2 of us (some chicken left over, no paneer left at all). The paneer has a bit of a sweet taste, a little more saffron than I like, but my husband loved it! The butter chicken was pretty typical. The naan was yummy! The tea was so-so... it was missing something; maybe ginger and a bit more cardamom. Nonetheless, overall the food was tasty. Our server was awesome! We talked about how much we liked him throughout the service. He was a younger Russian guy, who seemed SO SINCERE and actually cared that our experience was good, our food was what we expected, and that we overall were satisfied. We even told the owner before leaving that he was excellent. In fact, combined with our experience the day before at a Russian/Middle Eastern restaurant, we're convinced that if we ever open a restaurant (not likely) we will hire come back to Sunny Isle to hire our wait staff! Overall, our experience was positive. For Indian food, though authentic, it is pricey compared to NJ/NY prices, but then again, it's not a hole in the wall by any means. My tip would be to sit outside or else you'll come out smelling like food!

Whatever you do don't order delivery unless you own a yacht and don't care about value. We received two small dishes and naan bread. No sides. 60.00. The portions are small. Terrible value.

Went there on a recent vacation to Miami as the father was craving Indian food. Being an Indian I'm usually suspicious of Indian food in the us and mostly always end up with a sense of deja vu. This place is like that on the second point. The look and feel and menu is like that of any decent Indian restaurant in the country. The food is quite tasty though. The staff is quite friendly as well. I wouldn't be able to compare it to other Indian restaurants in Miami but if you are craving, feel free to give it a try.

Nice, clean atmosphere inside. Regarding the food, I would say it is subpar. If you are looking for a place to nickel and dime you, this is the place for you. In addition, the service and waitresses are awful.

I've had better for less. The place was very clean and nice - the garlic naan is a must! I ordered goat curry (was ok) and my girlfriend had some lamb skewers (really bad)..server was a bit awkward..

definitely the best Indian food in the extended area, but overpriced. they even charge for the rice with each entree (there is a $3 and $5 rice option)... making the chicken dishes $21-23 each. this is about $8 more than any other indian place i have ever been to. having said that, it is the best indian around. the only other place i like (royal india in ft. lauderdale) is 30+ minutes away.

Probably the best Indian food from Hallandale to South Beach. While having dinner there we saw several Indian families (locals) eating there so we figured the food must be good... And it was! Our waiter Andrew really knew the menu so we left it to him. He kept reassuring g us that if we didn't like anything he suggested we could send it back. Well, everything he brought was out of this world. He told us that the portions were big so he didn't order too much. We started with two appetizers (samosas and crispy spinach- onion fritters) both were exceptionally good and large! We then split and order of chicken in a creamy sauce ( which was explained to us that no cream was used, But ground almond paste to make it creamy) the one dish was more than enough for the two of us and we ordered the butter naan bread to dip into the sauce. They have a full bar and we ordered a version of a lychee martini and a chocolate martini. Both were spot on delicious. Overall the place is very cozy tucked away in the back of a strip center in sunny isles. The staff and owners are super friendly and we highly recommend trying this place.

I am doling out the elusive 5 star rating for this place solely based on the fact that I'm convinced there is no better Indian food in South Florida. I've spent a few months in India, lived in Boston and New York - so I'm spoiled... For that reason, I'm always hesitant to try Indian restaurants in areas where I don't see a lot of Indian people milling around. (If you've ever been to Sunny Isles, you'll know that it's no Jackson Heights!!) Well, I read about Copper Chimney in the Aventura magazine, and saw their daily specials on the great site, mrblueplate.com , so I was intrigued to try it. My guy and I went to CC and while it was pretty empty inside, the restaurant had a nice, inviting smell... We ordered the spinach/potato fritters for an appetizer, which are served with a delicious tomato-chili chutney and tamarind sauce. They came out piping hot, and were soft and flavorful without being oily. Next we tried the chicken vindaloo, tandoori shrimp and eggplant curry. Everything was absolutely delicious. Drinks are reasonably priced (check mrblueplate.com for 1/2 price days) and the service was good. I expect the crowds were thin since it was a Wednesday, but I'm told it's great on the weekends. Overall, YUM! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good Indian in South Florida, and it's worth a drive if you're anywhere in the area.

Hands down the most delicious Indian food I have had in South Florida. And it only took me 2.5 years to realize it has always been less than 5 minutes from where I live. Better late than never though. So although the food is hands down delicious, the service here was awful in every sense of the word (waiter's name was Rob in case you decide to go). But it didn't start out that way - I noticed there was a Yelp check-in offer for a free glass of wine, which our waiter wasn't too familiar with, so he showed it to one of the owners and they happily let me redeem it, yay. The menu here is really extensive, but we decided to go with lamb curry (rogan josh) and a chicken dish with tomato-onion sauce and potatoes (murg vindaloo). We also shared an order of garlic naan which was so delicious - it's practically crack covered in garlic. FYI - entrees don't come with rice so you'll have to order that as a side item (around $3). *Cue service starts to suck music* So the time it took to get our food wasn't too unreasonable, but it was when the food arrived that things got interesting. Our waiter brought over 3 entree dishes, and we told him we only ordered 2. He seemed confused and switched up the plates in front of us at least 3 times trying to figure out which dish was which (as if the lighting on the patio was going to make one dish appear to be the correct one...?) He then went back into the kitchen with all 3 meals, and came back maybe 3 minutes later saying he sorted it out - placed my dish in front of me and then started switching dishes -again- in front of my boyfriend. He apologized and took everything back to the kitchen -again- and came back claiming he finally figured it out (well thank goodness for that!). At this point we were a little leery about actually eating since we had no clue if what we were even about to eat was actually what we ordered. But we figured, what the heck, we've waited this long and I was already quite hungry. The saving grace was how complex and savory both dishes were and it's the only reason I'm giving this place a 4. I have had Indian food from several places and this was hands down the best tasting that I can recall. Fresh, vibrant flavors were in every single bite. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the tomato-onion sauce in the murg vindaloo dish was insane! You could put it on a tire and I'm sure it would still taste amazing. After we were fat and happy the waiter apologized and offered us a free dessert, but we asked to just have an extra order of naan bread instead. He was then MIA for another 10 minutes, and when we did ask him for the check and to-go boxes that took about another 10 minutes for him to come back. At this point we just wanted to get out of there but we noticed that he did in fact charge us for the extra naan even though he claimed he was going to comp us for it. (It was only $3-4 so we weren't going to stick around to make a deal about it, but it was the principle) But of course when we gave him the card it was awfully convenient that it took him mere SECONDS to give us back the bill to leave a tip. But I have a confession to make, I've never left such a poor tip in my entire life and I don't feel it was unjustified at all for the level of service we received. I have empathy for all wait staff (especially when it's crazy busy) but this guy clearly had his head in the clouds because the restaurant had a total of maybe 8 people inside. Bottom line is that the food is excellent, but we'll think of ordering take out instead of dining in -- at least for a little while.

Copper Chimney is very good. It has the best saag paneer I've had in Florida. I mean, I daydream about it. I often consider picking up a portion of it to add as a side when I'm cooking chicken tikka masala. It's that good. I want some now, even. It would get more stars if it were not so expensive. The food leaves nothing to be desired, don't get me wrong, but I think you are simply paying Sunny Isles prices when you come here. Service is excellent. It's family owned and the owners are always there, like hosts. They have a pretty (Russian) bellydancer on Saturday nights. It's fun to watch. One more thing: this is Indian food but not greasy in the least. It may be the healthiest Indian food I've ever had. And I eat a LOT of Indian food and love going to all Indian restaurants. I went with vegetarian friends recently and experimented with a lot of cheese, eggplant, and rice dishes I've never had. All I can say is amazing. Go there!

I came here with high expectations on a Thursday night. We sat inside to avoid the bad weather. The place was empty, much to my liking. The lighting was dim, so the ambiance was OK, but the lack of Indian decor was a little disappointing. They did have a TV with some Indian music videos playing, but that was it. Meh. I cannot remember what we ordered (it was that forgettable), but I do know that is was disgusting, and it did not even come with rice. To add insult to injury, the pakoras were overcooked. How do you mess up something so basic? I ate what I could and asked for the check, which came out to $60-something. We did not even order meat! It was so not worth the money. This place served both the worst and the most expensive Indian food I have ever had. I will never come back here.

BEST Indian food in Florida! True, the prices are high, but the food is amazing and high quality to boot. We love the dal, the salmon, boti kebab, and the special rice. We usually order 4 entrees for the 2 of us and bring the leftovers home for another meal. We drive 45 minutes to get to this place and we're pretty much drooling on the car ride there. Also, the restaurant owners are usually there which shows that they care about theur business and being sure the customers are happy.

We stopped by here one afternoon for lunch. They had been open only a month, and we wanted to try out the new local Indian restaurant. We sat outside, and even though it is a strip mall, we had a nice relaxing feel to it. Both of us had a Lunch Special, one Lamb Curry the other Chicken Curry. The special was a good size for lunch and it tasted great. The chicken seemed to be all dark meat, and I had very little lamb. Everything had a great taste to it, so I will make another stop and eat off the regular menu. All in all the special, in my mind, is a little over priced. The service and food will have me back though.

Copper-Chimney is a sort of misnomer. It is family owned and I was excited to experience Indian food in Florida. We got a seat outside, which was fine, because the weather was absolutely beautiful. My cousin comes here regularly, and most of the time I do trust her judgment when it comes to food. The waitress seemed nice enough, she was so waifer-thin I was not sure she would able to carry the plates back and forth out to us. That's fine. The things that came after were much worse. We were definitely not here to be "turned" very quickly, it was a Friday night we were planning on staying for a couple of hours. Randomly, in the middle of dinner, my cousin's husband's water glass (which was served in white wine glasses) broke randomly. There was a heated candle right next to the glass with too much ice in it, and I think that may have had something to do with it. They were nice enough to clean it up right away, but than the waitress goes on to start asking questions a/b why the glass broke. She made a comment with attitude, "what? it just BROKE by itself." It's like no, we broke it to give you a hard time. It was very odd, and they moved us to the table next to us, b/c god forbid there's glass in our food. That was a good move. We took awhile to order. We has spinach paneer, and these 2 big dishes with random vegetables, paneer, mushrooms, and sauce strewn across the plate. It looked interesting enough, I was hungry. Now the paneer was too hard, the vegetables weren't exactly my taste, and the big portabello mushrooms were tough to eat. My bf and cousin did have some of the rice, and the spinach paneer, and they did not seem to complain. The bhel poori was also probably the best thing I had there, even tough with that also, I had the mumra and sev in it were not made really well, or it was not as fresh as I wanted it to be. Now I guess the owner heard we were complaining about the waitress and she came and apologized and asked if we would want to have our waitress switched to another person. Of course we said no, but even that I thought was a little bit odd. I was not trying to get anyone fired on this very Friday night, we were just here to have a good time. She did suck though. She did not make any types of recommendations, and did not tell us that the portions were going to be that big and we should just get maybe 1 not 2 platters. When it comes to Indian food, I am a little spoiled because I have been to some really great places in Edison, NJ and in nyc. Overall, we had a great time, so that is why I am giving this place 2 stars. Let's just say I am not going to go around really recommending that anyone go here solely for the food. Maybe it was an off day, I have no idea.

The place was empty on a Monday night but the service and food was very good. Nice selection of Chutneys for the naan. Good Vindaloo sauce but the heat level is adjusted for American tastes. If you like things hot you should ask for them extra hot. I'll be back.

The service and ambience were very good, and parking was easy since this place is located in a strip mall (however, it is a "nice" strip mall). I thought the food was over priced, and there were issues with the quality. First, most Indian restaurants do not charge separately for the rice. Second, the papadum was stale. Third, the chicken in the Murg Tikka Masada lacked depth of flavor; it was bland and did not have the flavor of the tandoor. The sauce was good, however, the chicken had no taste of it's own. Finally, I was shocked to see we had been charged $7 for the bottles of Kingfisher. They stated that they have "live entertainment" on the weekends, which may account for the high prices. I love Indian cuisine, and there are better Indian restaurants in Miami with better prices.

The Cooper Chimney is and excellent Indian Restaurant located 1/4 mile south of Golden Beach, FL. They offer a large number of great tasting items on their menu. The servers were very friendly and all of the food was great. I give them 5 Stars. By Gregg L. Friedman MD, Psychiatrist, Hallandale Beach, FL

Tried the lamb vindaloo as I like curry with a bite and was not disappointed. It was exactly what I wanted and with naan bread, was the perfect meal. Did not expect to find authentic Indian food in Sunny Isles and was skeptical when servers are primarily Russian but I enjoyed every bite. Server was very attentive making it an overall great experience. I will return.

Just grabbed a quick lunch here.. I consider myself a indian food connoisseur and this food was defiantly very good, and extremely fresh. We ordered chicken tikka and chicken korma, both were excellent. This is by far the best indian food I have had in Miami, thus far.

This place was very disappointing. We ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken makhni to go. Perhaps that was the problem but the food had no taste what so every. We had a really hard time telling the two dishes apart. In my experience there should be a significant difference between the two meals. I will not go back and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Very well prepared and flavorful Indian food at the corner of strip mall. Outdoor seating overlooking parking lot is comfortable. Great service. A bit pricey in my view. Be prepared to pay for basmati rice separately. Really.

GREAT FOOD. GREAT STAFF. The restaurant manager was very friendly and aware of all the customers making sure they were served well. The food was spectacular! The waiter was the best! He recommended some dishes and they were great! Loved it ! Order the Chicken Tikka Masala ... yumm.

This is as good as it gets when it comes to Indian food! Hands down the best I've had. Great service too! The only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars is the location. It's in a strip mall on Collins ave so the traffic is horrible but definayely worth the trouble to get there!

I don't know what it is with the restaurants around Sunny Isles but they all have really bad lighting and it detracts from the dining experience. With that said the food was actually quite good and the staff were friendly even though none of them with the exception of the owner were actually Indian. My family order a variety of items including samosa, chicken tikka masala, and lamb rogan josh and all of them were quite good. They allow you order these in mild, medium, and hot which was nice but even the hot wasn't too hot for me but I like really spicy foods. This place is worth a visit if you're looking for a good place to eat in the area and aren't afraid of Indian food.

I just finished having an AMAZING meal with my family here (my brother just graduated from UMiami). The owners are amazing, and you can tell that they truly care about their establishment. As soon as we stepped up -- the owner stood up and greeted my parents with a big smile. I noticed that his son (i think?) walked over to the non-indian tables, and asked if they were familiar with indian cuisine and made several (great) recommendations. I can't tell you how much I LOVE it when family owned restaurants are actually INVOLVED in making their customers feel welcome and appreciated. Plus, the outdoor seating is great! And they close at midnight on Fridays (i'm not sure about other days) As a native New Yorker, of Indian descent -- I'm PICKY when it comes to my type of cuisine. I like my food flavorful ... and with a nice kick. Now, indian restaurants also usually fall into the trap of having the SAME damn menu everywhere. Yes, chicken makhani is great. So is chicken vindaloo...but some innovative dishes are always a delight -- and COPPER CHIMNEY in FL does not disappoint!! We used our restaurant.com certificate and they graciously accepted it on a friday evening... with that we figured we could order some items we normally wouldnt (ex: the $38 tandoori mixed grill). SOOOOOO FRIKKIN GOOD! They had a mix of chicken, lamb, shrimp, fish items on the platter. There was this basil tandoori chicken that I've never heard of before...but it was seriously out of this world. Oh, and their mint chutney was made fresh. Maybe those who aren't Indian may not notice when other restaurants serve them a watery green sauce and try to pass it off as chutney. But this was the real deal. Even my mom said it tasted like hers. Now... you may be thinking why did she have to specify "copper chimney in FL?" --- well, there's also one in NYC, and the owners are NOT the same. Thank god. Copper chimney in NY has horrible servivce.....THIS copper chimney, however, has knowledgeable and KIND waitresses. I can't praise them enough I'm sure that everything on their menu is delicious... I highly recommend the murg kadhai if you're looking for something different with a good touch of spice Anyway, to sum up a LONG review... EAT here. Your taste buds will thank you for it.

Great food and excellent service. The lunch special at 12.95 is a pretty good deal but this includes only half naan bread. So we ended up ordering some more breads but they had generous quantities of the curry. Since I try Indian restaurants in different cities I visit, I can tell that Copper Chimney is one of the best that I have visited. It was a little pricey overall but the food quality more than makes up the price. If you're a veggie fan, try the khazana-e-lazzat and you will not be disappointed!

Had a "to go" order of Bhuna Gost and Chicken Biryani. Both the dishes were average in quality. But the price to quantity ratio was among the highest for Indian food I have seen. The biryani for which they charged me $19 was ridiculous. For that quality and quantity it should have been no more than $7-8. Same with the price of lamb curry "bhuna gost". This is a rip off on the name of Indian food.

Delicious Indian food. Although the atmosphere is not particularly cozy, the servers and owners make you feel welcome. It's definitely a nice change from the norm and you can get a huge discount by purchasing a certificate on restaurant.com !

Worst indian food I have had in Miami and expensive for the amount of food we ordered. First dish was the Masala Champ (Grilled Lamb chops in a tomato onion sauce). The lamb chops were burnt and had almost no meat; the potatoes were half cooked. Second dish we ordered Chicken Vindaloo; mostly fat and skin. The third dish was Chicken Tandoori; this one was also burnt. None of these dishes were spicy and did not include rice. You have to order the rice separately but the waiter was nice enough to include a free order of white rice. Even the Naan bread we ordered was also burnt. Reply to owner: The idea you need to have waiter/managment intervention in order get food that is not burnt is absurd. I couldn't "send it back" since I got this food as to go.

We were so excited to read the reviews but caution readers that only certain dishes work. The service is fine and place is clean etc. but we like good, tasty food. Agree that the rogan josh was good. The condiments were bland. The mulligatawny soup had no body nor taste and got better with some salt. DO NOT ORDER THE TANDOORI mixed grill if you have ever had anything cooked in a tandoori oven in any other serious Indian restaurant. The lamb has a pasty texture, similar to a mixture of bread crumbs and water, the meat was dry and they replaced chicken chunks with ground chicken and shrimp with salmon. We typically bring home doggie bags. This one, we left at the restaurant despite repeated requests by the waitress to pack it up.

This place is a hit or miss. Stay away from chicken and shrimp. I had the shrimp in a sort of bloated wheat pocket ( 20 plus bucks) and it tasted like it had freezer burn and I did not and could not eat it. Food is VERY spicy. Snacks and gulab jamun were Ok but the gulab jamun was odd tasting. The place seemed to be run by oddlly shaped ladies who seemed to be in on every thiing bUT whats going on at the restaurant. They shouldnt be wearing anything that shows legs....it was wierd. The place was not full or even half full or even 1/4 full. If you need to eat in sunny Isles and cant drive to anyother indian joint, take a chance BUT dont expect much.

I like copper chimney , To start with their decor is very modern, My wife call this place 'P F Chang ' of Indian restaurant, I love their Naan bread and scallop appetizer. My wife like their salad and tandoori dishes. Dishes are little pricy side but portions are big there is always leftover to take home. Good friendly staff. Thank god there is an upscale Indian Restaurant in North Miami south Broward area
